When I began my PhD in Philippine Studies, I knew the road would be long and demanding. Nights of readings, weekends buried in writing, and countless discussions that stretched my mind in new directions.
Last May 15, I reached an important milestone: I officially completed all my coursework. One chapter closed, with two more ahead: comprehensive exams and the dissertation.
It is not just about finishing classes. Each course tested not only my intellect but also my patience and resilience. There were moments when the weight of deadlines felt overwhelming. Yet, along the way, I was carried by the support of professors who challenged me, classmates who encouraged me, and the universe that seemed to conspire to keep me moving forward.
Looking back, I realize this milestone is more than a line on an academic transcript. It is proof of persistence, community, and faith in the process.
The countdown continues. The next challenges, comprehensive exams and the dissertation, are still to come. But for now, I pause in gratitude, because every milestone deserves to be marked.
